Older athletes run at Sinton Pirate meet

SINTON – The summer track season came to a quick close for the older athletes as their last meet was on Saturday at Pirate Stadium. The Beeville team got a first place finish from Derrick Carroll in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13 for his two laps around the track. Carroll was fifth in the 400-meter dash at 60.48. Both races were in the Intermediate division. In the Sub-Youth girls division, Kelsey Gutierrez placed sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 31 seconds. Donyvan Givens was sixth for the boys in the same group clocked at 27.24. Justice Estrada ran to a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash in the Intermediate division. In the long jump, Givens placed third with a leap of 14-9. Estrada was also third in his older age group at 17-11. Haley Sharp competed in the long jump for the girls, and Robert Brush participated for the boys in that same event. Also competing at the meet for the Beeville team were Araianna Gonzales, Kyle Villarreal, Makayla Aguirre, Samantha Manzano and Valery Puente.
