Karnes City High School student Luis Balderas earned a First Place Blue Ribbon at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Youth Western Art Contest for his drawing of the John Ruckman house in Helena, entitled “The Ruckman Frontier House”. His drawing does not qualify for the final auction; however, he is eligible to apply for a four week scholarship to Kerrville’s Western Art Academy. KCHS students should be proud of their classmates - twenty drawings were sent to San Antonio and eighteen earned ribbons out of 491 entries. After the first of the year, there will be an exhibit in the high school library.
