“We fed 700 people in house, 225 plates were delivered to homebound and elderly residents, and another 100 plus plates were taken to the South Texas Children’s Home and 801 Gramman (assisted living residence),” said Pastor Larry McRorey.
Numerous volunteers from several churches and community organizations, including local Girl Scouts and the Miss Western Week court, assisted with serving the meal, clearing tables and cleaning up afterward. They also prepared a mouth-watering array of desserts.
One of the major changes this year was the elimination of the takeout line. The Methodist Church mission team, which hosts The Table open to the community once a month on the third Saturday, wanted to prepare and provide the best sit-down, family-friendly Christmas meal possible for all to come and enjoy.
Also, many diners commented on the wonderful Christmas music performed live on stage by the FUMC praise team, who are rumored to be producing a CD in the near future.
