The chamber banquet is set or Saturday, March 5, at the Expo Center.
Joseph Alvarado
Joseph Alvarado, the son of Daniel and Jeannette Alvarado, plans to attend The Victoria College to pursue a degrees in criminal justice and law enforcement.
A third-place winner in the Voice of Democracy contest, Joseph is a community volunteer. He has helped at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, participated in beach cleanups, and assisted with the Little Dribblers Basketball organization and with Little League baseball.
He has worked for the Youth Conservation Corpus and spent summers helping his uncle pour concrete.
The varsity basketball team captain, Alvarado, has played basketball during his 9th, 11th, and 12th grade years.
He has also participated in spiritual retreats, Victoria Black and White Basketball League, and Goliad Basketball League.
Chelsea Martinez
Chelsea Martinez, daughter of Eliza Martinez, plans to attend The Victoria College or Alvin Community College to pursue a career in sonography, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. Eventually, she wants to move to Corpus Christi to attend Del Mar College and obtain an associate’s degree.
She is the co-chair of the prom committee and helps in the kitchen concession stand.
She has volunteered at the nursing home, and has served food to people at the Christ Kitchen in Victoria. In December she helped clean and serve food at the Victoria Community Center. She has donated blood every year and baby sits.
Martinez has worked at the Dairy Queen and Canales Cafe. She practices photography and cuts hair for fun.
The oldest of 10 children, she dedicates much of her time help to care of her siblings. She cooks for12, including her parents and helps her mother keep siblings in line, while maintaining her grades.
Martinez takes pride in her grades and makes her family proud.
Kenna Rohan
Kenna Rohan, the daughter of Tina Rohan, plans to attend Texas State in San Marcos to become a registered nurse and eventually a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
A second place winner in the Voice of Democracy Contest, Kenna is an active school leader.
During her freshman year, she was the 4-H treasurer, student council secretary, and the class president.
Her sophomore year she was the 4-H secretary, and the class secretary. Junior year she was the 4-H president and the class vice-president.
Her senior year, she was the 4-H vice-president, and the class vice -president.
Kenna has had a job since her sophomore year. During the school and summer year she has taken dance lessons in Refugio and barrel raced. During the summer she baby sits.
Rohan was a Lutherhill Junior Counselor, with Lutheran Youth Leadership Experience.
She has participated for her four years of high school in the beach clean up, and has volunteered in community choir, and at the Food Bank in Tivoli.
She has collected tabs for Ronald McDonald House, distributed smoke detectors to needy residential areas in downtown Victoria. She also has provided entertainment for Relay for Life. She has beautified the community center, town square, and churches by planting flowers.
She has donated, collected and distributed food for needy families during the holidays.
