Mrs. Valdez was born on March 1, 1920, in Claresville, to Abelardo Gutierrez and Dolores Martinez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Luicinda Gomez; and a brother, Abelardo Gutierrez.
Survivors include her husband, Guadalupe Valdez Sr.; one son, Lupe Valdez Jr.; and one sister, Elvira Benavidez, all of Beeville; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Monday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Eddie Garcia officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were Salvador Silvas, Robert Benavidez, Gerald Reyna, Oscar Garcia, Louie Alaniz, Mike Garcia and Larry Hernandez.
