Ms. Lara was born in San Angelo on Aug. 2, 1939, to Juan Lara and Guadalupe Plasencia Lara. She had worked as a food server for Angelo State University.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Juan Lara and Martin Lara; and a sister, Lucia Garza.
Survivors include a daughter, Maria S. (Arcadio) Treviño of Beeville; three sons, Jesse Francisco (Mary) Samaniego and Billy (Mary) Samaniego, both of San Angelo, and David Esteban (Linda) Samaniego of Kyle; one brother, Pedro (Janet) Lara of San Angelo; three sisters, Dolores (Alex) Caballero of Garland, and Eva Chavez and Mercedes Walkins, both of San Angelo; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. A prayer service was held there that evening at 7 o’clock.
A chapel service was conducted Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jesse Berthold officiating. Interment followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Michael Samaniego, David Ben Samaniego, David Banda, Arkie Trevino III, Martin Lara and Jesse Samaniego Jr.
