"Ann Burke donated 150 acres of land for the town site of Beeville when the county seat was moved from the Medio to the Poesta in 1859. She was one of the original Irish colonists. Her husband died at sea, and her son, Patrick, was born two hours after she landed at Copano. Later, she married Patrick Carroll."
