On behalf of the Beeville Concert Association, I wish to thank the Joe Barnhart Foundation, the Texas Commission on the Arts and the Coastal Bend Community Foundation for the generous grants which made it possible for us to bring the San Antonio Symphony back to Beeville for an outstanding, memorable concert last Friday evening, featuring compositions by contemporary French composers. The music was absolutely beautiful, and the audience loved it.
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Symphony presented Young People’s Concerts, with music illustrating the water cycle, for the Beeville Independent School District’s fifth- and sixth-graders and St. Philip’s Episcopal School students. Presenters from the San Antonio Water System explained the water cycle in a humorous way for the audiences, and winning pictures from the Symphony’s “Paint to Music” contest were projected during the concerts.
We are happy that we could bring these outstanding events to Beeville—and that our local students were able to enjoy the same cultural enrichment that is frequently available to San Antonio children. (The same program presented to students here will be performed for 12,000 Alamo City young people next week.)
We also appreciate the support of our many local friends, patrons, benefactors and sponsors who also help make these concerts possible.
