BEEVILLE – Thinking of what to have for lunch after church Sunday?

The Beeville Volunteer Fire Department has the answer.

Sunday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. firefighters will serve barbecue chicken plates for $6 each.

It’s the BVFD’s annual Chicken Sunday fund-raising event, one of the most popular lunchtime opportunities in this city.

Assistant Fire Chief Bill Burris said the same drive-through system will be set up as in past years.

Each plate will include a full half of a barbecued chicken, beans potato salad and a slice of bread.

Also, members of the fire department’s auxiliary will sell homemade cakes for only $5 each.

The event will be at the department’s usual location, at the BVFD’s C.M. “Smitty” Smith Central Fire Station in the east end of Beeville’s City Hall building.
