SKIDMORE — A slow starting Trojan varsity basketball team could not keep up with the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats on Tuesday afternoon as the home team captured a relatively easy 62-42 win.

The Bobcats hit for 15 first quarter points to lead by six, 15-9, over the Trojans. The S-T defense kept the Trojans at bay throughout the second quarter and a cold shooting afternoon did not help the Beeville boys either. The Trojans added just six points in the second quarter while the Bobcats managed 11. It was a 26-15 game at the half.

The Bobcats turned up the pressure and began running and gunning in the second half. The speedy ’Cats poured in 25 third quarter markers to blow the game open and take a 51-27 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Trojans mounted a little bit of a rally in the fourth, but the Beeville boys were way too far behind.

Zeke Huerta hit for 21 points for the Bobcats and Eric Schumacher added 20. Erasmo Huerta sank eight points, while Aaron Hughes contributed five. Brandon East and Ryan Scott made four apiece.

The Trojans were led by post Cameron Kremers with 20 points. Cody Vasquez recorded six points, and Hunter Hardy had five tallies. Lucas Glew and Joe Rey Garza followed with three points. Tony Gonzales and Tyler Stewart each contributed two. Brent Reyna made one free throw.

The Trojans play the Sinton Pirates on Tuesday night in Sinton and will compete in the Aransas Pass Panthers’ tournament later next week.

The S-T Bobcats are off until next weekend’s Karnes City tournament that begins on Thursday and runs through Saturday, Dec. 1.
