The Butler Ranch Birders, led by Sue Butler Carter and Jodell Miller, participated on May 2 in the Great Texas Birding Classic.  The registered participants were: Sue Butler Carter, Jodell Miller, Cheryl Gutierrez, Marian Edson and Jim Edson. Thirty nine species were identified from the dawn to noon time frame in spite of the cold, windy damp weather. Notable among these were:  Orchard Oriole, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Great Kiskadee and a surprise visit from a Belted Kingfisher.  The contest is sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife.
