CBC Music Department to present Sunday recital

The Coastal Bend College Music Department will present a recital program featuring the students who have studied private lessons on their band instruments, piano and voice. The recital will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Gertrude R. Jones Fine Arts Auditorium and will be free and open to the public.

The following instrumental students will be performing in the program. Juan Casas will be playing “Meditation from Thais” by Massenet on the alto sax; Bobby Henshall will perform “Montage” by David Uber; “Taylor Knowlton” will play “Jota” by Mendez and accompanied by Patricia Coffee; Matthew Saldivar will perform “Hasse Suite I & II” by Johann Adolph Hasse. He will also play a piano arrangement of “Pomp and Circumstance” by Edvard Grieg on the piano. Philip Brewer will sing three numbers, the first an eighteenth century aria by Antonio Caldara entitled “Sebben, Crudele.” The second number, an art song entitled, “Go Lovely Rose” by Roger Quilter. The third song Philip will perform will be “If I Can’t Love Her” from the musical, Beauty and the Beast, by Alan Menkin and Tim Rice.

The instrumental students study with Mr. Gene Stephenson, CBC instrumental director, and the piano and voice students study with Dr. James Lee, Director of the CBC Community Performing Arts Project.
