BEEVILLE – The final home game at Lady Trojan Field will not leave many good memories as the visiting Calallen Ladycats dealt the Beeville varsity girls a 14-1 loss.

The field will be torn down and the Lady Trojans will await the unveiling of their new state-of-the-art facility that is projected to be ready in late fall of the 2014-2015 school year.

The varsity contest on Tuesday was close until the third inning. The Lady Trojans were trailing 3-1 heading into the top of the third, but the Ladycats powered their way to a five-run inning and then added another five runs in the fourth to take full command of the contest. A single run in the fifth finished things off in the Wildcat victory.

The lone run for the Lady Trojans came on an RBI single off the bat of Tif’ni Puebla in the bottom of the second frame. It was the only hit of the game for Beeville.

Mari Gonzales and Eddika Ortega each reached base in the game on walks issued by the Calallen pitchers.

The Lady Trojans finished their season on Thursday with a road game at Tuloso-Midway.

The team’s three seniors were honored as were all the players’ parents in ceremonies before the game. The three seniors included Andrea Briseno, Rebecca De Los Santos and Eddika Ortega.

In the JV contest, the Lady Trojans edged the Calallen girls 9-8, as the hosts rallied for two runs in the bottom of the final frame to get the victory.
