Camp Ezell, a Beeville native and editor of the Bee-Picayune for 27 years before he retired in 1972, wrote "The Historical Story of Bee County, Texas", a chronicle of the area's history, organizations, people and community from Spanish explorer Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca in the sixteenth century to the county's modern-day clubs and citizens.
