Editor:

On June 18, I asked for permission to host a candlelight vigil in honor of the late Mr. Scott Jones. For being a last-minute event, there was a really great turnout, thanks to the technology of Facebook and text messaging through cell phones.

Anyhow, I would like to extend my great appreciation to Jan Kidd from the BISD Administration Department for her promptness in contacting BISD Athletic Director Troy Moses to ask for permission for me to use the football field and host this event at the last minute. Coach Moses contacted me, asking what all would be needed and was willing to help with this event as well.

Also, a very special thanks to Double “J” DJ Service (Joseph A. Abrigo Jr. aka DJ Hot Shot, and Joseph A. Abrigo Sr. aka DJ Darknezz) for donating their time and sound equipment for this hour-long, last-minute event; Mark Valdez for providing the wonderful Christian music selection; Amanda Escobedo Esquivel; Brenda Delarosa; Andrew Dominguez; Brittney Gutierrez and Isaiah Montez in helping out as well. The turnout for being last minute was a great one and definitely a night to remember, as we could still see Mr. Jones running down that field with his flag in hand.

I used to work with BISD for eight years, until just this year when I was offered a job with CBC, and one thing that I have learned from BISD is that once you are a part of the BISD family, you will always be family no matter what! To see my BISD family willing to go above and beyond in helping me get the vigil together was not at all surprising, because that is what BISD is all about – sticking together, especially through times like these!

Mr. Jones, you will be missed and never forgotten. My prayers and condolences go out to the Jones family. May God forever continue to be by your side and bless you always.

Sincerely,

Angie Abrigo
