In the interest of the eight-liner game rooms here in Beeville, I find an injustice to the owners in that the city is also creating organized crime for issuing permits in order to operate each machine. Thereafter, citing the game room owners for operating their eight-liner game rooms.

The city is also guilty in promoting criminal activity by issuing the permits in the first place. As a matter of fact, our law enforcement is also responsible for not shutting down the eight-liner game rooms, although they know that it is against state law to operate gambling machines in the State of Texas. This situation is getting out of hand, and it will create corruption within our communities, unless we approach this matter fairly and lawfully.

Efrain R. Ibarra,

concerned citizen

Editor’s note: The machines are not illegal. The law says how they can be played legally.
