PALACIOS — Refugio sophomore cross country runner Ally Coscetti qualified to compete at the Regional Cross Country meet Saturday in San Antonio.

Freshman Aimee Aranda missed qualifying for regionals by one place. Aranda placed 11th at the district meet in Palacios on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Other varsity competitors at district include freshman Abby Shay, sophomores Jessica Vazquez and Junior, Jackie Gonzalez.

In the Varsity Boys Division, senior Buster Dodge, junior Thomas Aranda, and freshman Kenny Moore competed.

“These athletes have had a great season, and I am so proud of all of their hard work,” said coach Katie Craft. “They are great kids to work with.”

Craft said Ally taking fifth place at district and qualifying to compete in San Antonio is exciting.

“She missed qualifying last year by one place, and she is the first varsity girl regional qualifier Refugio has had in cross country since Megan Pursell qualified in 2007,” Craft said. “Way to go Cats!”
