REFUGIO — The H-E-B Tournament of Champions donated $2,500 in support of the Refugio Country Opry’s Scholarships.

“We are extremely happy to receive this gift from the H-E-B Tournament of Champions,” said Jay Monrad, Opry organizer. “We are able to present $4,500 in scholarships to this year’s graduation seniors, thanks to the generous donation.”

The scholarship winners will be presented tonight before the show begins at 7 p.m..

Jo Marie Prukop will join an all-star lineup tonight (June 7) at the Refugio Country Opry in the Refugio County Expo Center at the fairgrounds.

“Come early so you can meet this year’s scholars and stay for the show which I promise you’ll love,” Monrad said.

Prukop of Bishop is a crowd pleaser who has a voice range that brings country music fans to their feet and amazes opera fans. The artist has been performing since she was 6.

“This young lady is talented,” said Monrad.

Also making their way to center stage will be Lembo Allen of Gonzales, and Linda Martin of Runge - and, of course, the award-winning Refugio Country Opry Band.

Admission is $5. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the scholarship presentations begin at 6:45 p.m.

The food court will open at 5:30 with a full menu of burgers, drinks, deserts and an array of delicious cuisine from the Fierova family.
