According to the latest report from Texas Comptroller Susan Combs last Wednesday, Bee County saw its monthly rebate increase by 35.36 percent, from the $142,987.45 received this month last year to $193,548.74 for this month.
Since the first of this year, the county has collected $2,293,507.23 for an increase of 74.6 percent from the $1,313,559.70 collected by this time in 2011.
The same report shows that Beeville received a rebate of $363,406.60 for October, up by 11.43 percent from the October 2011 payment of $326,106.44.
Since January, the city has seen its rebates increase by 25.23 percent from $3,107,437.36 to $3,891,551.98.
Statewide sales tax revenue in October was $2.03 billion, up 8.2 percent compared to October 2011.
“The state’s growth in sales tax revenue continued to be led by collections from the oil and natural gas-related sectors,” Combs said. “We also saw strong consumer spending drive gains in retail trade and the restaurant sector as well.”
Combs will send November local sales tax allocations totaling $611.5 million to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts, up 5.4 percent compared to November 2011.
