Mr. Conoly was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Corpus Christi to Dan Bartlett and Margaret Munro Conoly. He graduated from Beeville High School and Virginia Military Institute in 1953, and received his pharmacy degree from the University of Texas. An owner of Conoly Drugs, he had stores located throughout Texas. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the United Methodist Church in Floresville. He was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter and fisherman, having earned the Grand Slam of North American Sheep, and a talented storyteller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack M. Conoly; a son, Patrick Conoly; and grandson, Augustus Cummings Koontz.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Conoly of Floresville; a son, Bart Conoly Koontz (Doré) of San Antonio; a daughter, Shell Koontz Somoza of San Antonio; two step-sons, Clay C. Conoly of Bandera and David Hohertz; three step-daughters, Bitsy (Bob) Neuser of Beeville, Judy (Derrick) Caddell and Gina Short; step-daughter, Gina Short; eight grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the United Methodist Church in Floresville with Pastor Michael Mumme officiating. Reception followed at the church’s fellowship hall. Burial was in Mission Park South Cemetery in San Antonio.
Pallbearers were Charlie Fuller, Alec Kibler, George Carroll, Ed Wicker, Jack Conoly and David Conoly.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Millican, Walle Conoly, Bill Conoly, Stan Conoly and Derrick Caddell.
