Eagles, Lady Eagles garner all-district hoop honors

PETTUS – The varsity basketball teams garnered several postseason individual honors from their District 30-1A coaches.

On the boys team, Clay Brown was named to the all-district first team. Brown led the Eagles in three-point shooting and ran the offense through his point guard position for head coach Tony Ferguson.

Eric Montez and Matt Gonzales were selected to the district’s second team for their play this season. Both players were front court “bigs” for the Eagles. John Grayson and C.J. Cruz were named to the district’s honorable mention list.

The Academic All-District list contains several Eagles who excelled on the court and in the classroom this year. The Pettus student/athletes so honored include Clay Brown, C.J. Cruz, Diego Delgado, John Grayson and Eric Montez.

The Lady Eagles made the playoffs this year and placed three players on the district’s first team. Ryan Grayson, Destiny Carrillo and Madi Garza all earned first team honors from the coaches.

Three more Lady Eagles were named to the second team district squad. Randi Arrisola, Tristian Moore and Tori Arrisola all captured spots on the all-district second team for head coach Sunny DeCamp. Ashlynn Schauer and Cierra Buentello were on the district’s honorable mention list for their play this season.

The Lady Eagles earning Academic All-District honors included Randi Arrisola, Ashlynn Schauer, Cierra Buentello, Madi Garza and Ryan Grayson.
