A group of more than 40 men and women chose Elder’s Country Store & Market, Inc. for their noon tour meal. They are a group that met in San Antonio and chartered a bus here.

The group was celebrating a reunion which included visiting Chase Field and a picture stop at the jet on the courthouse square.

The meal consisted of their individual choice items. They were treated to the same good food so many have come to enjoy.

The dinning room was decorated in a military tribute. Flags and table coverings in our red, white and blue colors were highlights.

A cake was also decorated in our patriotic colors and read: “Chase ‘Set’ The Pace. God Bless Our Military.”

Good conversation was enjoyed by the group as well as those of us hosting the event. As per our records, at least 13 states were represented. Among the states represented and those attending were: Ellis and Pat Jones (Mission, Texas), Dale Spillars (Missouri), John Wren (Albuquerque, N.M.), Richard Brown (Campbell, Calif.), Barry Fox (Carlsbad, Calif.), Frank and Peggy Valenza (Orlando, Fla.), Ted and Alana Mynyk (Ridgeway, Wis.), Janet and Steve Linder (Las Vegas, Nev.), David Franser (Aberdeen, S.D.), Bill and Eileene Durgee (Tucson, Ariz.), Larry Flowers (Topeka, Kan.), Steve Shanker (Rochester, N.Y.) and John and Linda Clark (Kanab, Utah).

The group spokesman, Mark Webb, from Los Angeles, informed us about a possible reunion in the future. “That would be great” was our response.

“The Navy was very important to this community, our area and especially Elder’s,” commented Jeanette Elder, owner.
