Bob and Marie Ford of Cologne celebrated 60 years of marriage on Saturday, April 23, at McMillan’s Bar-B-Q & Catering in Fannin.

Mr. and Mrs. Ford met while Bob was in the Air Force. Says Marie, “I was working at the [Rialto] theatre in Kenedy when a man walked in.” She went on to say that she immediately turned to her boss and said she was going to marry that man.

They did marry on April 22, 1951, in the Methodist church in Kenedy. After a brief time in El Paso, they returned and raised two sons, living more than 50 years in Beeville.

The anniversary party was given by their children, Kenny and wife Linda of Conroe and Thomas and wife Cheryl of Dayton. They have five grandchildren, Shannon, Brandis, Justin, Rebekah and Jacob.

Sixty-one family and friends joined in the anniversary celebration, including Mrs. Ford’s friend, Sue Kirk of Fort Worth, who came to stay a week before the celebration and help out.
