Last Saturday, the George West Junior High Band under the direction of Miss Melissa Olsson travelled to San Antonio to compete in the Alamo Showcase of Music. This competition is probably the most widely known in the country and attracts bands from all over the south. The band not only received a perfect rating of all division 1’s, but also was named as “Best In Class” Junior High Band.

Considering the difficulty of this prestigious contest, this is an amazing feat for a band that only had 19 players on stage. Receiving a “Best In Class” award is a once in a lifetime achievement for many bands. This is the third one for our band.

Congratulations to all of the band members and Miss Olsson for a superior job.
