Galloway will serve as special consultant to the Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration project run out of the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
His first assignment will be to conduct filmed interviews with a number of senior retired generals and admirals who began their careers as junior officers in Vietnam combat.
This is the second time in his career that Galloway has served in government. He was appointed a special consultant to Secretary of State Gen. Colin L. Powell in 2001 and served in that post for one year.
A Refugio native, Galloway’s career in journalism stretched over 50 years until his recent retirement as senior military correspondent and syndicated columnist for Knight Ridder Newspapers in Washington D.C.
He maintains homes in Bayside and in Concord, N.C., where he lives with his wife Dr. Grace L. Galloway.
