The Karnes City Craft Club held its annual Christmas luncheon at the Karnes County Auditorium on Dec. 8. President Patty Bedford called the meeting to order and led the group in the Lord’s Prayer and the pledge to the American flag. Pat Hemby, secretary, read the minutes, which were approved and Myra Patton presented the treasurer’s report, which stated that the checking account is $634.70.

The December birthdays celebrated were Alice Poore and Orlis Jonas. A short business meeting was held where several items were brought up to discuss at the beginning of the year. One was a new place to meet and another was assigning committees to be in charge of special meetings. Dues of $15 should be paid in January. Beth Davis will prepare the 2012 Year Books for the January meeting. Shirley Frasier moved to adjourn the meeting and Maxie McNalley seconded the motion.

After the meeting everyone enjoyed the delicious dishes brought by the members. Then the Christmas gifts were opened and each member shared what they received with everyone.

Maxie McNalley installed the officers for the year 2012. Shirley Frasier, President; Diane Maitland, Vice President; Myra Patton, Treasurer; Pat Hemby, Secretary. Officers were given a pretty compact to honor their position. Outgoing President Patty Bedford was awarded a crystal bowl for her many years of service. Maxie was given a beautiful Christmas ball hanging on a stand for her service of installing the officers.

The Club had a Christmas tree adorned with money collected to give to the Christian Thrift Center. $120 was collected and will be donated to them,

Members present were Patty Bedford, Jo Ann Kroll, Charlene Looney, Pat Hemby, Treva Fossler, Beverly Henke, Shirley Frasier, Orlis Jonas, Patsy Whitehead, Myra Patton, Diane Maitland and Joan Smith, Maxie McNalley, Alice Poore, Vickie Thonhoff, Bev Davis, and Debbie Gordon. Two guests, Susan Rodriguez and Fran Yokoi, were also present.

The next meeting will be January 12, 2012. The hostesses will be Maona Mixon, Terri Benavides, and Jo Ann Kroll.
