The Karnes City Craft Club met on Thursday, Oct. 11 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Karnes City. The meeting was called to order by President Shirley Frazier at 2 p.m. The Lord's Prayer and Pledge were recited by the members. Diane Maitland also read a prayer by Dale Evans regarding growing old.

The roll call was called and 13 members were present. The minutes of the previous September meeting were read and accepted. The Treasurer's report was read by Myra Patton and recorded. We also sang “Happy Birthday” to Shirley Frazier, our only October birthday girl.

New Business:

President Shirley Frazier appointed a nominating committee for officers for the year 2013. Treva Fossler and Patsy Whitehead were appointed to have the slate for the November meeting.

There was a discussion regarding the December Christmas luncheon. It has been decided that it will be a pot luck lunch with Diane Maitland volunteering to provide a baked ham for the meat dish. The officers will provide the drinks and desserts and the other members will bring favorite side dishes.

Diane will bring the tree which we will decorate with money. This donation is then be given to the Karnes County Christian Thrift Store. It was also agreed to have each member bring a $7 ornament for a gift exchange. Maxie volunteered to bring a centerpiece for the table and JoAnn will bring a ceramic Christmas tree. Other members bringing items are Pat Hemby: white table covering; Treva: napkins, cups, plates; Charlene: plastic ware. The luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Dec. 13.

The hostess gift was won by Treva Fossler and the door prize by Pat Hemby. They each received a beautiful fall table decoration.

The meeting was adjourned and members began the craft for the month taught by Diane Maitland. The craft was a beautiful pumpkin made from paper strips and adornments. Everyone had fun making them and seeing all the different colors of pumpkins. The hostesses were Charlene Looney, Diane Maitland, and Orlis Jonas. The cupcakes served were very decorative and delicious.

Members present were Shirley Frazier, Joan Smith, Evelyn Hoffman, Patsy Whitehead, Pat Hemby, Maxie McNally, Patty Bedford, Vi Wehman, Diane Maitland, Myra Patton, Orlis Jonas, Charlene Looney, and Treva Fossler..

Next month’s hostesses will be Patsy Whitehead, Patty Bedford, Vi Wehman, and Beverly Henke. They have asked that each member bring a wallet size photo of a child or pet to use for the craft that will be presented. The meeting will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City at 2 p.m. on Nov. 8.
