GEORGE WEST – Fifteen people were indicted by the Live Oak County grand jury when it convened Thursday, July 12. Judge Joel Johnson presided.

Among those indicted were Antonio Castro, 20; Felix Castro II, 60; and Felix Castro III, 30, all of George West. They were each indicted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the offense report, the altercation began with texting and name calling between two families.

About 8:30 p.m. on July 11, 2011, the situation escalated to a stabbing in the 900 block of Burleson Street in George West, according to the report.

George West Police Chief Ray Garcia said some weapons were recovered at the scene.

The victim, Justin Romero, was first taken to Christus Spohn in Beeville, then to Christus Spohn in Corpus Christi, according to the report.

The aggravated assault charges are second degree felonies.

A jury trial is scheduled Sept. 4 in the 156th District Court.

Castro III also was indicted on a charge of possession of marijuana in an amount of 5 pounds or less but more than 4 ounces. That arrest happened May 16, 2011, according to the offense report.

Each of the Castros are out on $25,000 bonds

Other indictments included the following:

James Loven Brown, 35, of George West, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Leeanne Cuevas, 28, of George West, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Brown and Cuevas are co-defendants out on bond.

Raul Guerrera, 36, of George West, on a charge of theft of property valued at between $1,500 and $20,000.

Rosario Ramos Hernandez on an enhanced charge of debit care abuse.

Holland Ray Holladay, 32, of Lubbock, on a charge of assualt-family member strangulation. Holladay’s bond was set at $10,000.

Ervin Jospeh Ledet Jr., 47, of Chauvin, on a charge of driving while intoxicated, third offense. Ledet’s bond was set at $5,000.

Joe Ray Perez, 49, of George West, on a charge of driving while intoxicated, third offense. Perez is out on an $8,000 bond.

Moriah Leigh Posso, 25, of Sandia, on a charge of burglary of a habitation. Posso is out on a $15,000 bond.

Samuel Troy Crawford, 38, of Crockett, was indicted on one count of aggravated assault and threat with a deadly weapon on a public servant, two counts of evading arrest in a motor vehicle. He is out on an enhanced $30,000 bond.

Mario Alberto Sanchez Elizondo, 31, of McAllen, on a charge of possession of marijuana in the amount between 50 to 2,000 pounds.

Albero Ezekuiel Martinez, 33, of McAllen, on a charge of possession of marijuana in the amount between 50 to 2,000 pounds.

Sanchez and Martinez are co-defendants, each out on $50,000 bonds.
