SKIDMORE – The Lady Cats picked up a win over the visiting San Diego varsity softball girls on Tuesday night, 15-5.

It was the second district win of the season for the Lady Cats who improved to 2-11 in district and 8-12 overall.

Lady Cat Dominique Vera got the win in the circle for the S-T girls, striking out 10 Lady Vaqueros along the way.

“The entire line-up got on base tonight, most being with hits. Dominique Vera pitched a great game with 10 strikeouts, and the girls played relaxed but full of energy tonight, which is a change from what I’ve been seeing—a good change at that,” said head coach Catherine Stowe.

“We came out and played seven great innings of softball.”

The S-T girls ended their season on Thursday night with a road contest in Freer against the Lady Bucks.

“After a game like this, hopefully the girls will realize for next year that they are a playoff level team, just like the coaches have told them all along. They have the talent and skill; it’s the transfer to the game that needs to happen,” Stowe said.
