Lois was born October 15, 1918, in Post, Garza County, Texas, the first of six children born to Cicero Felton Randal and Ettie Ellen Alexander Randal.
Lois attended school in Skidmore, Texas, graduating as Salutatorian of her class in 1936. She attended Baylor College for Women (now Mary Hardin Baylor) in Belton, Texas. During the summer after the completion of her freshman year, she met Herman Edward Bertram in Skidmore, Texas and Lois and Eddie were married on September 6, 1938 in Skidmore, Texas. Four children were born of this marriage, Roberta Lois and James Edward in Skidmore, Texas, and Richard Allen and Betty Louise in Beeville, Texas.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, on December 7, 2005; her parents and her three brothers, Cicero Ottie Randal, Cecil J. Randal, Felton Edward Randal, and one grandson, Christopher Edward Bertram.
Survivors include her daughter, Roberta Lois and husband Joe Wise of Roxobel, North Carolina; her son, James Edward Bertram and wife Glenda Catherine of Lubbock, Texas; her son, Richard Allen Bertram and wife, Kathryn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and her daughter, Betty Louise and husband Scott Campbell of Bevil Oaks, Texas; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
During her residency in Beeville, Lois enjoyed working with the Beeville genealogical chapter. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was active with the ladies quilting circle, making quilts for those in need. After moving to Roxobel, North Carolina, she chose to be rebaptized in her church in Roxobel and on Easter morning in 2009, at the age of 90 years, she was baptized by Dr. Dave Rimel, of the Sandy Run Baptist Church in Roxobel, North Carolina.
Memorial services were held on Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Sandy Run Baptist Church in Roxobel, North Carolina.
Services were under the direction of Galloway and Sons Funeral Directors in Beeville, Texas, with visitation held on Tuesday, August 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Galloways, located at 409 North Tyler Street, Beeville, Texas. The funeral service was at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Beeville, Texas, on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, with Pastor Don Taylor officiating. Graveside services followed immediately at Bee Memorial Park on U.S. Highway 59. Pallbearers were Kenneth Peake, Craig Alan Chamrad, Kevin Bertram, Seth Bertram, Matthew Bertram, and David Paul Randal. Honorary pallbearers were Felton Edward Randal, Rodney Clay Randal, Guy Michael Randal, Vincent Todd Randal, Kelly Patrick Randal, and Joe Linnstaedter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your church or favorite charity in her memory. Lois’s favorite ministry at her church home of Sandy Run Baptist Church in Roxobel, North Carolina 27872, was the Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi, North Carolina 27867 as well as the parsonage fund of her church home.
