Beeville long distance man C.J. Rodriguez crosses the finish line in last week’s San Antonio Rock and Roll Half Marathon in seventh place in his division of 431 runners. Rodriguez placed 61st overall in a field of 16,000 runners competing in the 13-plus-mile event. ”I was surprised that I got to line up in front with all the elite runners. It was definitely a boost to my confidence,” Rodriguez said. The former Trojan track star completed the event in 1:25.29, a new personal best. He hopes to continue competing and training with an eye on the 2016 Olympics. His next race might be in Miami and he is looking for possible sponsors.
