PETTUS – In a close contest, the varsity Eagles baseball team lost to the Port Aransas Marlins 6-5 on Tuesday night.

“Lane Kruger pitched a great game, going 6 2/3 innings and only giving up six runs,” said head coach Homer Croyle.

Dylan Dunn shined at the plate for the Eagles with a perfect 3-3 night. Dunn stroked a double and an inside-the-park home run to help spark the Eagles to their five runs.

The Eagles traveled to Falls City on Friday to meet the Beavers in another district test. Today (Saturday), the Pettus nine are to host the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs. The varsity game is set to begin at approximately 7 p.m. On Tuesday night, the Runge Yellowjackets will pay a visit to Pettus.
