Mixed doubles team of Moran, McAfee bring home 3rd place medals

Jacon Moran partnered with Hannah McAfee in varsity mixed doubles finished third in the Orange Grove tennis tournament last week.

The Three Rivers tennis team traveled to Orange Grove on April 2-3 with the mixed doubles team of Jacob Moran and Hannah McAfee bringing home the 3rd place medals.

Moran/McAfee beat Garza/Brown of Skidmore-Tynan 8-2. They then defeated Ortiz/Velasquez of Orange Grove 8-4. In the semifinals, Moran/McAfee lost a hard fought match to the eventual tournament winner Culp/Resuarez of Bishop 6-2, 7-5. Moran and McAfee would bring home the 3rd place medals beating Galvez/York of Orange Grove 8-4.

In Varsity Girls singles action, Krissy Arnst beat M. Flowers of Alice 8-2. She fell to Megan of Aransas Pass 8-3. Sarah Rodriguez lost 8-1 to L. Schmidt of Sinton.

In Varsity Boys singles, Jacob Carvajal lost to A. Fine of Orange Grove 8-2. In Varsity Boys Doubles, Wesley Roberts and Jonathan Sulaica lost to Petrus/Patrova of Skidmore-Tynan 8-0.

In JV Boys Singles, Victor Fernandez lost to B. Seenaunlae of Bishop 8-3. In JV Boys doubles, Colton House and Jonathan Lopez finished fourth defeating Cavazos/Estrada of OG 8-0, Eggleston/Fries of Port A 8-7 (9-7) before losing to King/Liesman of Orange Grove 8-6. In the 3rd place match, House/Lopez lost in a hard fought battle 8-7 (9-7) to Villarreal/Loberau of Sinton.

JV Girls Singles had Michelle Ogo play well in a loss to C. Martino of Sinton 8-3. In JV Girls Doubles action, Samantha Kennedy and Kandace Escamilla lost to Ward/Wilson of Ingleside 8-1. Klare Escamilla and Chris Martinez competed in JV Mixed Doubles. They fought hard in a loss to Gonzales/Villareal of Bishop 8-2.
