St. Philip’s Episcopal Church concert series, Music in the Nave season begins this month. This season Music in the Nave will be welcoming several organists from around the world.

On Sunday, Oct. 14, Pitro Rachon of Warsaw, Poland, will be performing. Rachon is the principal organist at the Warsaw Archdiocesan Cathedral-Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, in Poland. An active performer, Rachon has appeared in concert in Poland, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Russia, Spain, Turkey and the United States.

The Baylor University Chamber Singers will be a guest of the series on Sunday, Oct. 21. The Choir, founded in 1962 by Dr. Robert Young is the elite vocal ensemble at Baylor. From Renaissance to Contemporary, the Choir sings an extensive repertoire of pieces. They have been featured as prominent part of the PBS special Christmas at Baylor. The Choir will sing twice while in Beeville, first at 10:30 a.m. for the Liturgy at St. Philip’s Church, and again at 3 p.m. in concert featuring John Rutter’s Requiem.

A leading interpreter of Romantic organ literature, Dr. Judith Hancock will perform on Nov. 11. She is the professor of organ at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to moving to Austin, she and her husband directed the musical programs at Saint Thomas Church, New York City for 27 years, conducting their famous Choir of Men and Boys. She has played for several national and international conventions and accompanied many of the finest choirs in the world.
