Careful reading of page 74 in the new Outdoor Annual will keep hunters from mixing up the dates, shooting hours and aggregate bag limit stipulations of these two zones. Special season dates for the White-winged Area are: Sept. 1, 2, 7 and 8 with shooting hours from noon to sunset.
The bag limit is 15 doves, but no more than two mourning doves and two white-tipped doves during those dates. This will require accurate bird identification before pulling that trigger. Keeping plumage attached to the dove breast in the field will help hunters track, and prove, their legal limit.
While the first general season for both zones starts on Sept. 20, the White-winged Area ends earlier on Oct. 23. The second general season is the same for both zones, Dec. 20 through Jan. 20, 2014. Shooting hours and aggregate bag limits are also the same for both zones during the two general seasons.
