Raul T. Gonzales, Sr., 85, died on June 12, 2012. He was born on Sept. 12, 1926 to Jose B. Gonzales and Carolina Torres Gonzales. He married Frances Ybanez on Nov. 20, 1949. The couple resided in George West. He was the owner of Gonzales Plumbing Services. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He served on the GWISD School Board for 36 years and was a volunteer firefighter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Frances of George West; a son, Raul Gonzales, Jr. of George West; a daughter, Carolina Ruiz of George West; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Abelino T. Gonzales, Sr. of George West; Joe B. Gonzales, Jr. of Three Rivers and Benito Gonzales of Harlingen; three sisters, Elvira G. Ybanez; Elda Gonzales and Gloria Ann Gonzales, all of George West.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15 from 1-5 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Chapel in George West. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. that evening.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 10 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church with Father George Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Cemetery.
