“This is a wonderful opportunity for our 4-H programs to give back to a worthwhile and helpful organization like Driscoll Children’s Hospital. One of the greatest things we impart in the 4-H Program is community service. This event was a great example of various 4-H members serving their community, and I am proud to be a part of it,” said Matt Bochat, County Extension agent, Bee County.
More than 70 items were auctioned off at the event, including everything from a homemade bench, baked items, baskets and animal feed to live animals. All the items were donated by local and area businesses, individuals and 4-H Clubs in all three counties.
The annual event is one of several Cattleman’s Roundups that Driscoll Children’s Hospital has in South Texas to underwrite the cost of medical care for youth at their facility. The Beeville event was generously sponsored by Lyssy & Eckel Feeds, Texas AgriLife Extension, Driscoll Children’s Hospital and the Texas 4-H Program.
