YORKTOWN – After a comeback victory over the Louise Hornets the week before, the Runge Yellow Jackets faced the Yorktown Wildcats in a non-district contest on Friday night. With the game having no bearing on their district record, the Yellow Jackets utilized different players, though the Wildcats snapped their unbeaten streak by the score of 52-6. Despite the loss, Runge head coach Ken Wallace praised the effort. “It was a chance for us to play some kids,” said Wallace. “Some positive stuff came out of it. Our goal is still the district title and the playoffs.”

The Yellow Jackets’ lone score of the contest came in the second half as Travis Perez connected with Darren Torres for a passing touchdown. Additional statistics for the game were unavailable at press time.

This week, the Yellow Jackets will return to district action as they host the Pettus Eagles for their annual Parents’ Night game.

“It’s going to be nice for our kids to have a relevant Parents’ Night game,” said Wallace. “We’ll be honoring one of our past teams at halftime, the ’91-’92 team. We want our kids to know the history of our program.”

Kickoff in Runge is set for Friday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m.
