SKIDMORE — The Lady Cats did not make the payoffs this year in basketball but did earn several postseason individual awards that were recently released by the District 31-2A coaches.

Skidmore-Tynan point guard Mari Martinez was selected as one of three district newcomers of the year for her fine play at the varsity level this year.

Lady Cat post Amber Hughlett was named to the all-district first team. Hughlett was usually the team’s top scorer and also was a force on the boards for head coach Joseph Grimes III.

Courtney Leonard was selected to the district’s second team for her play at wing/guard.

The S-T girls also shined in the classroom with four players named to the Academic All-District squad. A player must be in good standing with her varsity team and maintain a 90 or above average in the classroom to qualify for the honor. Succeeding both on the court and in the classroom were Lady Cats Khelsey Corrigan, Naomi Garza, Amber Hughlett and Courtney Leonard.
