“We saw a lot of improvement from our Little Trojans in the George West summer track meet. It’s exciting and fun to watch our Little Trojans run,” said summer track coach Linda Luna.
“They are motivated and want to show you their best.”
The younger set were in George West while the older athletes competed in Alice. Results in GW included;
Annica Gonzales won her heat in the primary division event. Aracely Garcia and O’Maley Carrillo both got second place ribbons. Stephanie DelBosque and Kaydence Menchaca placed third. Manuel Hernandez ran to a sixth place finish in the event.
In the primary division, Ariana Ruiz placed second in her heat. Kaydence Menchaca picked up a third place ribbon and Ciarah Rodriguez, Cici Walker, O’Maley Carrillo and Jaxton Alvarado all finished fifth for the young Trojans. Annica Gonzales crossed the finish line in sixth place as did Gillian Rodriguez.
Desmond Givens placed fifth in the sub-bantam group while Jackie Hernandez took a second place ribbon home in the bantam event. Carlos Escamilla captured first place in the dash in the sub-midget division while Abigail Gonzales was sixth in her race. Donyvan Givens placed second in the midget division with Gabriella Murphy capturing third and Haley Sharp placing fifth for the girls in the midget girls group.
The primary group was led by Kaydence Menchaca with a first place finish in the 200. Meagan DelBosque placed second and Alicia Garcia was third. Annica Gonzales and Faith Sandoval both finished fourth in their heats. Gillian Rodriguez placed fifth while Stephanie DelBosque crossed the finish line in sixth place.
The bantam girls had Jackie Hernandez place third with Jolie Carrillo finishing sixth. Marco Valadez placed fourth for the boys.
In the sub-midget division, Shaynea Redmond captured first place for the young Lady Trojans and Carlos Escamilla did the same of the Trojans. Samantha Manzano was first in the midget group with Gabriella Murphy finishing fourth.
Alicia Garcia placed fourth in the primary group with O’Maley Carrillo capturing a sixth place ribbon. In the sub-bantam group, Danyelle Adamez won her race and Yaneli Aguilar placed third. Jolie Carrillo won the bantam division for the girls while Alex Aguilar placed second for the Trojans. Deemi DeLeon finished fourth in the sub-midget division in the 400-meter. Johnny Ramos placed second for the Trojans in the midget division.
The primary girls won their event with a time of 1:12. The squad included Meagan DelBosque, Yaneli Aguilar, Araina Ruiz and Danyelle Adamez. The bantam boys placed third with a time of 1:07. The Beeville foursome consisted of Jaxton Alvarado, Alex Aguilar, Marco Valadez and Desmond Givens. The midget division belonged to the Beeville girls, winning first place in the event. Abigail Gonzales, Samantha Manzano, Haley Sharp and Shaynea Redmond combined to win the race.
Megan DelBosque jumped to a first place ribbon with a leap of 9-11 in the primary group. Ariana Ruiz placed sixth at 7-4. Sub-bantam athlete Danyelle Adamez captured fourth place with a jump of 8-11.25 while Desmond Givens placed third for the Trojans at 10-4.
Jackie Hernandez won the long jump in the bantam division with a leap of 10-6. Alex Aguilar was also first for the Trojans at 11-5. In the sub-midget division, Shaynea Redmond won first with a jump of 14-5 and Carlos Escamilla captured first place for the Trojans with the same mark of 14-5. Haley Sharp placed fifth in the midget group with a leap of 10-1. Donyvan Givens placed fourth at 11-10.
Primary athlete Faith Sandoval placed third with a toss of 18-9.5. The sub-midget division had Deemi DeLeon place fifth with a 13-111 effort. In the midget group, Samantha Manzano was third at 20-7 while Gabriella Murphy was fourth at 19-2. Johnny Ramos placed fourth for the boys at 18-3.5.
At Alice on Saturday, the older athletes also turned in some quick times for ribbons.
The sub-youth group for the Trojans had Derrick Carroll place first with a time of 2:25 and Marco Escamilla was third at 2:31. Freddy Rodriguez was fifth in the intermediates grouping with a time of 2:29.
Derrick Carroll again won the event for the Trojans with a time of 1:03 with Escamilla right behind him in second place at 1:04.
Natalie Rivas placed fourth in the sub-youth division with a time of 31.62.
Intermediate runner Freddy Rodriguez placed fifth, covering the distance in 5:25.
The younger group will be in Three Rivers this Friday. No information was available for the older athletes.
