Pat Traxler, Pastor of BCCC, led the service as he sat on a horse in the middle of the rodeo arena surrounded by many cowboys and cowgirls who were also horse back. Traxler told of the importance of making choices for God instead of for the things of the world. He told the contestants that the reason BCCC has team ropings is for the cowboys and cowgirls to hear God’s Word while doing something they love to do.
After the arena service, 160 teams competed for prize money with an additional $2,500 added to the purse, $1,000 was added to the average pay out, $500 was awarded to the fastest time in the first go-round and $500 to high point header and high point heeler.
Winners of the team roping are: First Place Average Winners: Arnold Guerrero and Nandy Guerra; second, Mike Briones and Nandy Guerra; third, Gary Sutton and Sal Dominguez; fourth, Calvin Blaschke and Micky Ray Cruz; fifth, Johnny Bounds and Chris Ruiz; sixth, Shawn Branscum and Brandon Fisher; seventh, Jr. Gonzalez and Lynn Thornton.
