Our Refugio County Fair is now over for another year. The 2013 Expo building was a complete success. This could not have happened without the help of so many people who gave their time and talents.

Special thanks goes to the volunteers who served as Superintendents and helpers at the different areas of the building. They are Wanda Speis, Doris Blaschke, Virginia Schubert, Sandye Ermis, Sonya Reyna, Carol Lockett, Doris Pfeil, Paula Bradley, Myrna Payne, JoAnn Franke, Mary Rippsstein, and Jane Fisher. Our lunch on Wednesday was once again fantastic thanks to the wonderful cooking skills of Melodie Freidrichs. Raul Saenz, Ruben Barrara, Brixx Hawthorne, Mark Martin and Jeb Bauer for all the help setting up the expo building and cleaning up and storing everything for next year. Also to Monica Flores for all her help in the Extension office.

We also had a great number of helpers during check in and judging. Our 4-H Ambassadors (Lacie Beall, Madeline Nixon, Dalton Klare, Morgan Klaeverman, Courtney Myers and Makayla Ramos. Thank you Madeline and Taylor Nixon for your help with the ribbons. All of these young people were very helpful.

A big thank you to the individuals and businesses that made donations to the Expo building. Tuttles Grocery- Stanley Tuttle, HEB, Melodie Freidrichs, Isabel and Hannah, Fast Break and Monica Flores (Pampered Chef).

Last but not least to my family. To my husband for putting up with all the hours I was busy working on paper work and running errands. Also Addie, my granddaughter for the help with the goodie bags for the judges and helping assemble the recipe books. I couldn’t have done it without you.

To all participants congratulations on a job well done. We had some very beautiful items and some very delicious baked goods. Keep up the good work, we hope to see you again in March 2014. It is not to soon to start planning your project for next year.

If I missed someone I apologize. I also appreciate the parents and grandparents who volunteer to help and support our youth in the county.

Thank you again for the bottom of my heart.
