A joint Lenten supper and service will be held on Wednesday, March 13 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ander.

The Lenten service series is sponsored jointly by St. Peter’s, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Schroeder, and Zion Lutheran Church in Arneckeville.

Supper will be available beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the service at 7:30 p.m. St. Peter’s is located at 1545 E. Farm-to-Market Road 1961 in Ander.

Members of the community are invited to attend the supper and service.

The theme of this year’s Lenten service series is “Beneath the Cross of Jesus.” Christians live their lives beneath the cross of Jesus, beneath God’s manifold love and grace that reaches out even from Calvary.

Based on the hymn “Beneath the cross of Jesus,” this series explores what it means to abide at the foot of the cross, to cling to the rock of humankind’s salvation, to dwell in the house of the Lord, and to confess sins and receive God’s forgiveness.

A final Wednesday evening Lenten supper and service will be held on March 20 and Holy Week services on March 28 and 29.

The offerings received at the joint Lenten services will be designated for the offering received at the 2013 assembly of the Southwestern Texas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

The offering from congregations at the synod assembly, which will be held May 4 and 5 in Kerrville, will support Cross Trails Ministry.
