The purpose will be to stir up interest in this year’s Fight Night 2 event, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 13.
Police Chief Joe Treviño is urging boxing and mixed martial arts fans to get their pre-sale tickets to the event now.
Eddie Aguilera recently announced that all group tables that for the event are sold out now.
The press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday at the conference room at La Quinta Hotel conference room at 2062 U.S. Highway 59 east of the city.
One of the special guests at the conference will be Oscar “Lil Oscar” Cantu, the WBC and USNBC Super Flyweight champion of Kingsville.
He will be defending his title against Joseph Rios, former WBC USNBC Super Flyweight champion from San Antonio.
The next public event before the night of the fights themselves will be the weigh-in.
That is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sept. 12, also at La Quinta.
The fights will be the following night.
Tickets for the event are $20 each and are available at the Beeville Police Department, all Pantry stores and at the CBS Grocery.
Part of the proceeds will go to the Beeville Police Department.
