GOLIAD – The Schulenburg Lady Horns defeated the cold-shooting Goliad Tigerettes 36-21 Saturday in the championship game of the 2012 Tigerette Invitational.

Goliad, which was ranked No. 19 in the latest Class 2A Texas Girls Coaches Association poll, was led by Emily Perez’s nine points.

The Tigerettes defeated Orange Grove 51-29 in the first round Thursday behind Avery Zamzow’s 18 points and Perez’s 17.

Goliad beat Queensland (Australia) East Coast 50-37 later Thursday behind Zamzow’s 21 points and Perez’s 17.

On Friday, the Tigerettes defeated Houston Redemption Academy 44-40 behind Zamzow’s 27 points.

In other tournament games, Columbus beat Yoakum 47-37, Falls City defeated Cuero 56-29, Schulenburg edged El Campo 54-51, Redemption Academy downed Cuero 56-42, Schulenburg beat Victoria Faith Academy 61-42, Redemption Academy defeated Falls City 43-39, El Campo beat Faith Academy 61-45, Falls City downed East Coast 53-43, El Campo beat Columbus 36-30, Cuero outscored Orange Grove 26-18, Yoakum beat Faith Academy 59-56, Schulenburg beat Shiner 40-36, Shiner defeated Yoakum 76-64, Faith Academy downed Orange Grove 44-32, Yoakum beat Cuero 53-29, East Coast beat Columbus 37-29, Falls City defeated El Campo 48-45, and Shiner edged Redemption Academy 63-60.
