A 61-year-old South Texas tradition has made a change. The Tilden Lions Club 62nd annual Rodeo and dance is not on Labor day weekend. The club felt a change was needed, so it has been moved to Sept. 7 and 8, the weekend after Labor Day.

This year, it was also decided to go back to the traditional rodeo on Friday and Saturday night with a well respected producer, Lester Meiers. They will have barbecue nightly with concessions at the rodeo and dance.

The Tilden Baptist Church will be sponsoring the favorite ‘mechanical bull riding’ from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. nightly.

They are also very excited about Nashville Recording Artist Eddie Raven playing Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The county team roping will be Thursday night at 7 p.m. with 100 percent payback.
