Trojan athletes honored at fall banquet

BEEVILLE — The A.C. Jones High School athletes were honored at the Fall Sports Banquet on Jan. 17 at the Bee County Expo Center.

The falls sports include football, volleyball, cross country and team tennis. Each sport presented awards and certificates to those selected for the recognition.

In football, head coach Troy Moses announced the winners. Linebacker Joey Granados was named the team’s Defensive MVP. The Offensive MVP award went to tight end Hunter Hardy. The Newcomer of the Year award was presented to sophomore quarterback Cameron Kremers. The Trojan Heart award was presented to defensive lineman Brent Puga. The Scout Team Player award went to two Trojans, Tony Gonzales and William Hinojosa. The Special Team Player award went to placekicker Marcos Ulloa. The Academic Award was given to center Graham Traylor.

In cross country, head coach Gracy Bryce recognized Kennedy Treviño as the Most Valuable Runner-Female. The Most Improved Runner-Female was also awarded to Treviño. The Most Improved Runner-Male went to two student/athletes as Jared Landreth and Bryce Koenig were honored. The cross country Heart Award was presented to Jordan Saldivar.

The tennis awards were presented by head coach John Kidd. Female and male awards were presented. The Newcomer of the Year Award was won by Claire McKinney and Jesse Garza. The Most Improved Award was given to Paige McKinney and Trey Alaniz. The tennis Hustle Award was presented to Cori Moore and Tyler Stewart. The Trojan Heart Award was given to Emily Barris and Marcos Ulloa. The Most Valuable Players Awards went to Cori Moore and Eric Dehnert.

In volleyball, coach Brittainie Zinsmeyer chose two athletes as her Setters of the Year – Victoria Elizalde and Brianna Jackson. The Trojan Heart Award went to Amanda Gonzales. The Hitter of the Year Award was presented to three young ladies; Brennan Holder, Elizalde and Ciara Garcia were selected. The Defensive Player of the Year Award was presented to both Gonzales and Celeste Contreras. The Most Improved Player award was given to Emma Downing. Volleyball’s MVP Award went to hitter Brennan Holder.
