BEEVILLE – The state second-ranked 4A baseball team, the Calallen Wildcats, gave the varsity Trojans every indication that they might not be ranked high enough in Tuesday night’s 16-0 victory.

The Trojans helped the Wildcats to their final outcome by committing 10 errors over the five innings of play as only seven runs were earned runs charged against Trojan hurlers Jonathan Carrillo and Bryan Reyna.

The Wildcats produced three runs in the top of the first and then came back to score six runs in each of the next two frames. A single run in the top of the fifth made the final score 16-0.

The Trojans did not get a hit as the Wildcats pitcher of record, R. Arrevalo, tossed a perfect game and no-hitter. Arrevalo struck out 10 Beeville batters and issued no walks in his perfect night on the mound.

“Calallen is a very talented group, but we were beaten before the first pitch was ever thrown. We were not there mentally. We had zero confidence in the field and at the plate,” said Trojan head coach Matt Trujillo.

“We will go back to work and attempt to regroup against Tuloso-Midway this Thursday.”

The Trojans traveled to T-M and will close their season on April 25 at Gregory-Portland.
