William C. “Charlie” Porter, 77, of Mathis, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.

Mr. Porter was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Mathis to L.T. and Erin Massey Porter. He served in the U.S. Army and later was a farmer, rancher and produce broker.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Porter of Mathis; four daughters, Kim Porter (Steve) Huddleston of Needville, Lisa Porter (Craig) Hardin of Bulverde, Kara Porter (Russell) Woods of Simmons and Sherry Porter of Mathis; a son, William Charles (Roxanne) Porter II of Beeville; and one sister, Elizabeth Porter Duke.

Mr. Porter was remembered at the regular church service on Sunday, March 3, at 10:50 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Mathis.

Arrangements were under the direction of Dobie Funeral Home, Mathis.
