Robert Horton Sr., 74, of Beeville, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013.

Mr. Horton was born May 9, 1938, in Richards to Ada Aline (Brister) and Clinton Forrest Horton. He married Gwendolyn Duplessis in Reno, Nev., on Aug. 30, 1958, and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a truck driver, an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and a member of The Motorcycle Club of Beeville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bessie Witherspoon; and a brother, William Horton.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen Horton of Beeville; a daughter, Cheryl Lee of Corpus Christi; three sons, Robert (Gracie) Horton Jr. of Beeville, Ross Horton of Eloy, Ariz., and Vincent (Elena) Horton of San Antonio; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Mooney, Clinton Mooney, Kenneth Lee, Melissa Lee, Kristy Horton, Robby Horton, Vincent Horton Jr., Veronica Puente and Becky Garcia; 10 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Milton (Dot) Horton of Big Spring, Franklin (Ellen) Horton of Canton and Kenneth (Linda) Horton of New York.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Clayton Elder officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
